Hwa Bang

Dear Friends,

We hope this letter finds you well since the Pandemic has affected our lives deeply. This years’ spring equinox feels something special sensing a warmth and hope in timely manner.

Myra and I are doing well, though our hearts are broken by what’s happening in Ukraine, gaining restorative power in our daily gardening as usual, hopeful for more peaceful days to come. Myra House is also doing well, whereas keeping public event minimal, hosting overnight guests at upstairs via Airbnb network while Lydia-James family is living at guest house.

During this transition I want to invite a new board member, Jay Shin who can fill in Dr. Guntram’s place. Jay is a former highschool teacher, ardent nature lover taking routinely mountain biking and hiking. I feel confident his role will be greatly beneficial to our direction cherishing our friendship for over twenty years.
And I want to share a new dome project, Hwa Bang (meaning harmonious room), This will be located at the northeast corner of our farm, one of WEB(whole earth) building, fire and earthquake resistance structure using super-adobe sand bags.  Its architectural drawing was checking with the City  Planning and Building Department. An ecodome, named HwaBang (화방,和房: aspiring room to cosmic harmony), has captured my full attention for several months. She will abide bio-aesthetic pleasures, illuminating metaphor and regenerative need. Now it began crafting together with coworkers who are willing to “learn, offer and be of service.” Grateful for learners Uncommongood sent us. Hopefully we can get together celebrating its completion.

With Myra House family and your steadfast support I am looking for better days ahead.
